Completely UNSMOKED and made from his native ironwood, this bamboo shank hawkbill was made by Jan Pietenpauw from South Africa. The hardwood stummel will make for a fine smoker with a high heat transition so the wood isn't likely to burn with normal tobacco use and the earthy, honey toned look of the smooth wood, with both grain and growth rings exposed, is always a treat for aficionados. Two knuckles of curved bamboo and a tapered stem define the shape, but the beauty of this pipe is more than skin deep. The narrow chamber is perfect for those sweet and grassy Virginias, though any genre in a ribbon cut will be outstanding as well.
