Details
Pre-dating the famous Peterson Sherlock Holmes collection by over a decade, this 221B Baker Street estate pipe was made in Israel as part of a series distributed in both England and parts of Europe. Like this large bowled calabash with a smooth finish, most were sweeping and bent shapes worthy of fiction's greatest pipe-smoking detective. Although it appears to have an ebonite ferrule to securely hold the fancy stem, this solidly constructed smoker is fitted with an ebonite stem that is all one piece, snugly fit into the mortise, carved into the briar. The chamber is quite massive and cones to the draft hole all the way down at the very bottom. Easy to keep lit and will likely burn every morsel of well packed tobacco, this lengthy and bent briar remains in great shape with just some minor handling marks.
