Details
Plateaued above the broad rim and again at the shank face, this standing bent freehand estate pipe does show a makers mark, but we can't decipher it. May be a DR? - whatever the marking or maker its was clearly done here in the United States and it is a well grained and smooth finished specimen of smoking vessel. At some point the shank developed a crack just above the transition to the bowl on the underside. It was glued and stable, but we have added a aluminum rod to the draft to ensure there are no issues in its future. The massively wide chamber cones all the way to the draft hole at the very bottom making this briar an easy choice for guaranteeing every last morsel of tobacco is turned into sweet, dry smoke. There is some darkening along the back of the rim and a few teethmarks at the bite that couldn't be completely removed, but otherwise this handful of thick walled smoker is in outstanding condition.
