Details
Working in the same neoclassical designs as his mentor, Poul Rasmussen and inspired by the contemporary work of Danish master carver, Sixten Ivarsson, Emil Chonowitsch entered into pipemaking later in his adult life producing tight lined and improved classic shapes like this smooth finished bulldog estate pipe. Clean and with only slight tweaks to the original archetype, this diamond shank rhodesian has the traditional double bead adornment at the widest part of the bowl but features a large bowl and chamber for longer sessions. There is some modest darkening around the shoulders of the rim that could not be removed and the stampings on this Danish handmade are extremely worn and only barely legible. Despite that, this beautifully shaped and smooth drawing Danish briar is a rare find and worthy of both smoking and collecting for its historical significance.
