This Duke Supreme estate pipe caused a still running debate about its true origins here at our workshop. Clearly the pipe was made in England and is stamped with a "Made in London" oval shaped nomenclature. The script Duke and the Supreme, the latter likely being a reference to the dense grain finished in contrast don't offer enough clues to cite any particular point of origin. Some of us are confident that this came from the Comoy's factory and likely dates back to the 1960s, arguing the stem is not original to the pipe. Others are positive this was made by Parker of London after the merger with Hardcastle and claim the 64 catalog shape matches this quintessential English billiard's profile and was made in the late 1970s or early 80s when they stopped using the stamp coding from Dunhill after the merger. Regardless of when and where it was made, or by whom, this fetching and lightweight smoker is in outstanding condition with a touch of wear around the inner rim and boasts a wonderfully smooth draw. We just aren't sure exactly who is responsible...
