Details
For those already familiar with the groundbreaking silver work of Les Wood and his career as a pipemaker, no. He did not band one of his three star poker's with a piece of nickel. While we are confident the brindle ebonite stem is original, the nickel band was added after it left his workshop and it does not appear to be a repair. The restoration revealed some charring in the chamber so a sodium silicate coating was added to ensure there aren't any issues and the draw is as spectacular as expected from his English icon of smoking prowess. Otherwise in outstanding condition, this smooth and rounded rim sitter has copious amounts of room to enjoy a native English blend of choice.
