Gorgeously grained and given a superb high-contrast smooth finish to highlight all the inherent beauty that is briar, this live edge horn from Oklahoma pipemaker, C. Kent Joyce is staggering in its natural display. The insert of bodark captures the tone of the lightest parts of the stummel while the plateau seam underneath is blended into the intentional carving for a singular design as unique as any handmade can be. Note the ridge surrounding the underside of the rim that is exaggerated and hyper articulate while the seam from the right side of the shank travels down the shank and up to the rim as it gets softer and softer until completely dissipating at the very last millimeter possible. Exceptional in concept and execution, this is an heirloom piece meant to be smoked and enjoyed for many lifetimes.
