Details
Borrowing from Italian, English, and Danish design, this Japanese handmade from Takahashi Kunitomo is beautifully blasted to reveal cascading growth rings stacked tightly around the entire billiard bowl. Despite the distinct finish the crisp shape, especially around the rim's outer shoulder, isn't just preserved, but leaned into for subtle accentuation. The thick shank's top line curves through the trim and stem for a taper that is both muscular and elegant. The burl insert adds balance for the thick walled and well proportioned bowl and substantial girth shank that still captures an organic, sinewy gesture. The addition of the stem's dot from either shell or mother of pearl is another lovely and subtle touch worthy of a generational smoker like this. In excellent condition, this compact smoker has a wide and chamber, conical at the bottom where the draft connects with a wide open draw.
