Unfortunately, when this handmade James Upshall estate pipe from England arrived into our possession, the stem had been well chewed and the taper poorly executed. Fortunately, our head restorer, Zac, worked his magic and produced this ebonite replacement and tuned it up to make this P finished and impressively grained, large bowled smoker an even better smoker than the original (yes, we agree - he needs a raise). There is some modest darkening across the broad rim full of birdseye from the briar's end-grain, but it is still clearly visible. The very deep and conical chamber is quite wide at the top, but significantly narrow at the bottom making this a wise option for burley based blends, though with its improved draw, any favorite will do well here. Either way, this beautiful grained and smooth English briar will require a significant amount of time to smoke all the way to the draft at the very bottom.
