Borrowing from both the very old and more modern design elements, Clark has shaped this sweet spot sized bulldog to reinforce the very clean lines that has made this shape popular for two centuries. Although significant, the cant doesn't obscure the rim when lighting and the single bead sits dead center at the widest point of the bowl. Even the tight transition at the top of the shank is exquisitely executed with just a touch of the diamond's ridge warping up into the back of the bowl. Wrapped in high contrast straight grain, the top of the bowl is all birdseye, and when seen in direct sunlight the yellow and honey tones in the finish glow as if a light has been turned on inside. Like the great carvers of days long gone, Clark has made precision lines and curves look all too easy in this muscular and smart smoker.
