Details
A collaborative effort between two great Danish master carvers, though back in 2004 when this limited edition estate pipe was commissioned, Tom Eltang's star was just beginning to rise. Working with Hans "Former" Nielsen, they created this shape and only made 250 in total, most with a combination of rustication and sandblast finishes, though this 244th example has only been sandblasted to reveal the inherent character of the briar's growth rings and cross-grain. There are peaks of deep burgundy and cherry and they become quite vivid when seen in direct sunlight. Stemmed with a half saddle made of acrylic that will never oxidize, this nickel trimmed Danish beauty will always be an eye catching and fantastic drawing smoker. The cylindrical chamber does have a rounded bottom with a well placed draft and the airway at the bottom of the mortise has been gently ramped to allow easy passage of a cleaner. Note that this pipe does come with its original sleeve.
