Larsen Handmade Super 79 Bent Yachtsman Estate Pipe

Made at a time and place where the neo in neo-Danish didn't exist, this Larsen Handmade Super 79 was the result of very talented pipemakers pushing the boundaries of shape and design.  Finished smooth with an exaggerated forward reach in the bowl, as if yearning to spread out to the horizon, this bent and densely grained Danish smoker doesn't have any fills or flaws, though there is some darkening along the broad rim.  The very deep chamber is conical so while it is very wide at the top, next to the rim, it tapered significantly to the bottom where met by the smooth and open drawing draft.  Any tongue friendly blend will do well here, but hard not to get a Danish aromatic to reveal all its complex flavors in a native briar like this.
