GBD Grotesque (Pre-Cadogan) Bent Carved Freehand Sitter Estate Pipe

Made in GBD's French factory before the merger with the Cadogan group, this unusually carved Grotesque was a creative way to handle briar that needed some carving to remove softer parts of the wood.  Never meant to be anything but a full-sized and competent smoker, the guys in the factory did what they could to keep it an attractive sitter.  All that aside, this long and moderately shallowed bowl smoker excels with its precise drilling that made the GBD name synonymous with quality at the time.  There is some rim darkening, significant around the inner rim, and the stampings have some modest wear but this smooth drawing smoker is still in great shape.
