David Huber Pipe Kiri Fugu Blowfish

David Huber has made of study of the fine shaping involved in creating the Japanese inspired Fugu Blowfish as seen here in the sharp and decisive linework dressed in his signature smooth contrast finish.  The right side panel of the bowl features a break in the panel supplied by orienting the plateau from the very edge of the burl into the design, further showcasing the organic soul revealed in this Kiri Fugu.  The tightly knit grain is extraordinary and David's subtle use of crease and proportion are some of the very finest in pipemaking today.  Not only is the forward momentum low and in the guts of the bowl, but the windswept look combined with asymmetric proportions make this beautifully grained and military mounted blowfish a generational treasure of artful sculpture, only designed to be smoked and enjoyed while appreciating its beauty.
