Civic Special Grain 424 Lumberman Estate Pipe
Item # MDE256130$115.00
Details
Finished smooth with a warm finish and a spectacular array of straight grain well oriented to the long and oval shank shape, this Civic Special Grain lumberman estate pipe was likely made after Civic took over operations at Loewe & Co. but before the beginning of WWII - somewhere between 1920 and 1940. It is possible that the stem has been replaced with one made from rodstock, hand cut to fit the pipe as flush as possible and the bite just behind the button is very thin. Otherwise, this smooth drawing and long shanked smoker from England that predates the inevitable merger with the Cadogan group decades later. A true part of English pipe history, this beautiful smoker does have some minor rim darkening and a few handling marks though remains in outstanding condition with particularly crisp stampings.
