Wiseman Hand Made
Canadian pipe maker Evan Wiseman started as a young cigar enthusiast, but after looking through his bank statements, realized premium cigars were a very expensive, albeit delicious, way to stay nicotinated. He decided to explore pipes as an alternative to his expensive cigar habit. Never one to do things half-way, it didn’t take Evan long to discover the YouTube pipe community and start dabbling with making pipes beginning in 2012. So enthusiastic was he about the craft, he purchased a lathe without so much as a carve-your-own kit under his belt.
In those early Internet days, materials were hard to come by, and actual expertise on how to make a pipe was slim, but gradually, by educating himself on places like pipemakersforum.com and visits to American carvers, Evan’s work began to shine.
Evan’s production has historically been low, and 100% of his work was sold directly to consumers, but over the past year or two he has increased his output and we were lucky enough to snag a few pieces.
For those of you who haven’t met Evan, he’s hard to miss. Towering above most, it’s odd that his taste in pipes gravitates to smaller bowls. A lot of Evan’s work is highly influenced by the North American style of design, complete with Danish and English elements, spruced up with colorful stems, deep blasts, and perfect engineering. Each of his pipes is designed to be the very best smoking pipe in your collection. Please take a chance to check out his excellent work.
