Joseph Skoda Pipe Patent Leather Bulldog with Brindle

From New York based carver Joe Skoda, comes this rather unusual bulldog. Joe is well known for for his fanciful designs, creative use of textures and inlays, meticulous precision, and unique voice in the pipe world. While this bulldog is far more traditional than Joe's typical repertoire, he still manages to bring his unique take to this traditional shape. When we passed this pipe around the shop, one keen employee remarked that the finish reminded him of leather in both look and feel. That's a pretty good assessment. The brindle stem also brings a warmth that pairs well with finish. The thicker, heavier shank feels substantial in the hand. The whole ensemble is comforting and familiar. A winning combination, as far as we're concerned.
