Robertson Pipes

Starting his journey in North Carolina, Reid sought out the guidance of veteran pipemaker David Huber, who taught Reid many of the essential skills necessary to create a high-grade pipe. After relocating his family to New Mexico, Reid has spent time with another accomplished artisan, Jared Coles. This kind of pedigree should make any collector or enthusiast take note, and we think Reid is poised to be one of the best underrecognized pipe makers in the United States (but not for long if we get our way).

Much of what we see from Reid is a recapitulation of old themes in the, what is now becoming classic, American, neo-Danish style: muscular, yet sinuous lines, highly contrasting or unusual accents, and an emphasis on simpler shapes blended from the English and Danish canon. Each piece possesses high attention to detail (a hallmark of the American school), and engineering predisposed to open and smooth draws.
