Bill Shalosky is an American artist who resides in Nashville, TN where in addition to making Shalosky Pipes he is currently a member of the very talented team at BriarWorks and has been producing the finest smoking pipes as a full time professional pipemaker for many years.
Bill studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design where he excelled in the artistic use of many mediums. Towards the end of his education Bill managed the Ceramics Laboratory on campus and would routinely engineer pipes out of left-over pieces of clay.
After graduation Bill became a part of the Smokers' Haven in Columbus, OH where he quickly developed his talents as the carver of Chheda pipes, while simultaneously developing his own brand. It wasn't long before both brands were heralded as leading vanguards in the ever more popular American made artisan pipe scene.
In addition to pipemaking, Bill is an avid outdoorsman. Camping, hunting, fishing and every aspect of survival in between are comfort zones for Bill. In true renaissance fashion, he can also give great advise about beer crafting and gin.
The Shalosky name has become synonymous with the very top tier of craft and the emerging American style of pipemaking. Bill's work has been sought everywhere in the world and has led to the expansion of some markets previously unknown to pipe collectors. Although several shapes are trademarked to Bill, he is a master carver - capable of producing any shape successfully and, according to the mountain of accolades and critics, one of the best artisan makers in the world today.
