Details

Being a native of Pennsylvania himself, it's no surprise that J.M. Boswell would apply his pipe making talents to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the famous battle at Gettysburg during the Civil War in 1863.  This long stemmed estate pipe has no shank as the stem fits directly into the bottom of the bowl and a separate draft leads down from the dead center of the chamber.  The front has been laser engraved and the shape of the bowl itself is reminiscent of the conical lead projectiles, or Minié balls that were used in the rifled muskets during the conflict.  The chamber is drilled with a round bottom and not nearly so deep as the bowl itself, but just wide enough to make a great smoke from almost any genre of favorite tobacco, era specific or not. There is some minor inner rim darkening but this lightweight and lengthy smoker is in outstanding condition and comes with its original sleeve.
