E. Oslo 1/4 Bent Partially Carved Apple Estate PipeItem # AE172117
Great American carver Robert Eugene Burns (Mic) of Micoli fame carved amazing freehand pieces for over a quarter of a century showcasing a rustication technique utilizing the dremel tool. Although he is not credited with its original use, he certainly took the finishing method farther than any of his contemporaries, constantly creating new and unique pieces. He also applied spot carving to traditional shapes for his E. Oslo pieces such as this specimen. Covered in fantastic straight grain and a few fills, this honeyed wheat and naturally contrasting finish is both visceral and dynamic. These charming pieces are unique and this one is in great shape with some minor rim darkening and some discoloration around the end of the shank.
