Brian Madsen Pipe Smooth Elephant's Foot with Boxwood

A fairly recent addition to the long and historied canon of briar profiles, this elephant's foot, from Danish pipe maker Brian Madsen, is the inevitable pursuit of matching a three dimensional sculpted stummel to the infuriating and radial grain patterns of briar.  Perfectly oriented this shield of straight grain and birdseye is masterfully situated to reveal the very best the block has to offer and is only futher heightened by Brians technical skill and obsession with details.  From the sweep of the subtly flared shank, the widened adornment of boxwood, all the way to the long, convex, and tapered stem, this smooth drawing and considerbly chambered smoker lacks nothing in beauty of function.
