Bill Shalosky Pipe 316 Ring Blast Lovat with Walnut Insert

Details
This Lovat has some nice thick walls in a very trademark Shalosky proportion. The meat in the cheeks of the bowl and the thick shank are very pleasing to the eye. The thing that makes Bill such a strong artisan, aside from his world class shaping, is his perfect drilling and craftsmanship. The inset of the stem is thin and sturdy and the mortice is so dead-center accurate with the draft that its a shame I can't figure out a way to take a picture of the inside engineering of his pipes. The blast is so rich, you need a glass of water to chase it if you stare too long. Then there is the straight grain pattern etched underneath waves of wonderfully parallel growth rings in a rusty, chocolate, warm brown finish - very deep and very rich.
