T. Cristiano Pipes

Thomas Cristiano was an American Pipe Maker who moved from his native Italy when he was 16 in 1968.  For several decades he made hand made artisanal pipes under his own name and also had pipes made from the mid century production techniques, back in the Old Country under the Calabresi brand.  Like many machine made marquees, there were several lines of various adornments and finish combinations.  Much of Cristiano's work is in Freehand pieces though his factory designs were very clean and stylish, showcasing the classic in the Italian School of smart looking shapes. We are proud to offer these well built, budget friendly briars to our inventory.

As an interesting side story, the pipe world has to indirectly thank Thomas Cristiano for the pipe making career of our very own in house artist, Jesse Jones. Cristiano was good friends with  tobacconist, shop owner, and pipe maker Tom Cook, of Amarillo, TX. Cook, in turn, taught those interested the tricks of pipe making, including Steve Green, a friend and fellow shop owner in Canyon, TX, where Jesse went to college. Jesse spent countless hours at the Canyon Tobacco Shop, and it was Steve Green who introduced Jesse to the beginning steps in the pipe making process and even housed Jesse's workshop in his garage during his fledgling years. It is likely that without Thomas Cristiano, there would be no Jones pipes today.
