RC Sands Pipe Saddle Pear

Wickedly subtle, this deceptive beauty is a dark and rusty red finish of high contrasting straight grain on one of the most interesting shapes we've seen from Chuck.  Far more streamlined than his usual work, the stummel is all curve and sinewy transition to a saddle that doesn't thin out quickly, but serves as kind of a reference point to balance the whole, tapering to a thin and comfortable button.  The rim's outer shoulder is offset from the bowl's cant, which makes the front feel stronger, imparts motion to the whole piece, and captures the kinetics, as if the pipe was stretching and actively yearning to be as long as it possibly could.
