Made in France for Earl of Essex, this bullmoose estate pipe features an unmistakable finish of powder coat applied to the briar. Sometimes we see all kinds of trim and adornment to add a little bit of flash, but in this case there was no holding back. The very top of the rhodesian bowl has been left smooth and polished and does frame a tight grouping of birdseye end-grain, but the rest of the stummel has been painted metallic gold and definitely draws the eye. There is some minor inner rim darkening above the very wide chamber and there are some areas around the middle of the bowl between the bids and underneath the bowl where the paint has started to chip away, but this screw tenon with permanent metal stinger filter is still an eye popping smoker with an open draw, especially for a metal filter that won't ever need to be replace.
